Could Thyroid Medications Have Lead To Hysterectomy?
i was diognosed in early preg with hypothyroid and put on eltroxin till 35 weeks .i had a normal birth but had a haemorrage then a sub total hysterectomy.i am on neo mercazole now 6 yrs .but the doc says it cant be on eltroxin then neomercazole.could this have lead to a hysterectomy due to heavy bleed

Few things
1. Hypothyroidism progressing to hyperthyroidism is a very rare situation. I have come across only 2 cases of that in my practice.
2. You cannot take neomercazole for 6 yrs for hyperthyroidism. Usually we f=give it for 2 yrs. If hyperthyroidism is not cured by then we will opt for surgical treatment or radio iodine treatment.
3. Haemorrhage can be a complication of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. We cannot say it is the direct cause or there were some other underlying causes like fibroids.
