Could Prolonged Use Of Eltroxin Increase Sugar Levels Along With Causing Depression And Weakness?

i am using 100mg eltroxin from last 25 years. i face bouts of weakness and depression. recently i am taking tablets for diabetes problem. will long use of eltroxin increases sugar level. my weakness and depression is it due to prolonged use of eltroxin. gopal

Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

If I were your doctor, I would have advised you to go for a thyroid function test again. Your symptoms could be due to worsening of the hypothyroid state rather than to the effect of eltroxin. The diabetes compounds to this problem. To counter the depression and anxiety, go for a regular morning walk and exercise program which will also keep you fit. Your dose of eltroxin might have to be altered by your treating physician depending on the reports of Thyroid function test.
