Could Pain In Chest And Ribs, Burning Back Be Due To Stress?

chest pains for a 50 year old woman in good health. Doctor recently told me to start taking over the counter heartburn med after an endoscopy . But I am under a lot of stress from work too. My back constantly burns do to the stress. Chest pains in the center of my chest that radiate out toward my ribs. It hurts to take a deep breath.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I think you are having GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Stress is one of the Major risk factor for GERD. It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this ,the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause the symptoms.
So along with antacids you should follow these too for better symptomatic treatment.
1. Avoid large meals,instead take frequent small meals.
2. Avoid hot and spicy food.
3. Avoid stress and anxiety.
4. Go for walk after meals.
5. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bed.
6. Avoid smoking or alcohol if you have these habits.
7. Loose weight if you are obese.
