Could Outbreak Of Rashes Along With Fever In A Toddler Be Due To Amoxicillin?
3.5 yr old female child..was seen and treated for a wet cough a week ago, runny nose crackle in chest. 3 days of antibiotics....still coughing put on amoxacyline. Develop a rash..stopped antibiotic..rash went away..next rash reappears and now with fever.. gave her Motrin..reaction to antibiotic or something else?
As per your query your daughter have outbreak of rashes along with fever which occurs as a consequence of infection by bacteria itself. Need not worry. I would advise suggest to drink plenty of fluids. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Take paracetamol every 6 hours, if fever occurs again. Apply cold compresses on rashes. Visit pediatrician once and get complete examination done. Go for blood tests along with throat swab test.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari, Dentist
