Could On And Off Spotting And Bloating Be Due To Fibroids?

I am post menopause. I have been spotting on and off for several months. I had bioidentical hormone pellets inserted in October, 2014. I had a vaginal ultra sound as well as a biopsy. both were negative. I am also having bloating in my abdomen. Could it be fibroids?

Hi,

Fibroids do not cause any postmenopausal bleeding unless they are subendometrial and/or polypoid. This spotting can be due to the hormones you are taking, provided you have excluded other causes like cervical lesions, vaginal and cervical infections. You should also have regular blood coagulation profile.

Maintenance of a proper diet, proper weight and regular exercise is a must. Fibroids will be detected in the sonogram and since your sonogram does not mention any, according to you, this cause is ruled out. Please get further help from your consultant.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam
