Could It Be Menopause For Moody And Mixed Emotions After Missing My Period For Six Months?

I am 50 yrs old, soon to be 51 on 2-14. I missed my period for 6 mo. I thought I was going into Menapause. My breast are tender, as they are often when my caffiene intake is high. Ive craved chocolate, insomnia, and moody and I have mixed emotions. I just started an antidepressant, Effecessor 75mgs. Is it Menpause? Sincerely, sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

Yes, it is most probably menopause that you are going through. Emotional fluctuations are common in menopause. Breast tenderness is also seen in menopause due to hormonal changes.Other common symptoms are night sweats, dizziness, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, fatigue, weight gain, sleep disturbance, mood swings, depression, anxiety, irritability, headache, joint pain, osteoporosis, muscle tension etc. Effexor will help in both depression and anxiety. Things will get better gradually as your body gets used to the changed hormonal state.

Have a happy birthday.
