Could Iron Taken Orally For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome Have Led To Bleeding From Urine?
I am a 67-year old male. My medical history includes a subtotal gastrectomy done in 1967. The diagnosis was ulcers due to Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. I take iron orally, as well as a nasal spray to get vitamin B12 (the duodenum was removed). Other medications are fossmax for borderline osteoporosis, lipitor for borderline cholesterol issues, and travatan eyedrops for glaucoma. Could the oral iron be the cause of blood in my urine?

The oral iron does not cause bleeding in urine. You will need to look for other causes of bleeding commonest of which is urinary tract infection. Other causes are stones, tumour etc. Please have yourself checked by an urologist who will do urine analysis, blood tests, ultrasound of urinary tract and possibly cystoscopy.
