Could Having Experienced A Rape A Year Back Result In Pregnancy Now?

Not yet! Can I please talk to you about something? I have nobody else to talk to. I might be pregnant. I didn t tell many people but I was raped December last year. I m having ALL the late pregnancy symptoms, I took 3 tests but were all negative, but I take a certain medication that usually makes pregnancy tests negative if you re pregnant. My friend on ig didn t find out she was pregnant till 37 weeks, and if I was pregnant id be around 20 weeks 15 days. What do you think I should do? I am just dying to know, I m so scared as well. I haven t had my period since Jan. And have had all the symptoms plus gained 40 pounds since dec but no reason why.

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your query, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.

1.First of all do not panic.
2.Sorry to hear about your sad episode.
3. If you had your periods after your sex assault episode then you can assume that you are not pregnant.
If you had no periods since then you need to rule out pregnancy.
Blood beta HCG test is the most reliable test. Test reports below 5, indicate non pregnant status, and above 25 confirm the pregnancy.
with negative test results, you can induce the periods with progesterone tablets. Your treating doctor can guide you about the dose and withdrawal bleeding of the same.
4.Sometimes, severe mental stress can lead to absence of periods without pregnancy. Also, please get USG done to rule out PCOS as a cause of absent menses and weight gain.
5.I will suggest you to opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Include plenty of fruits, salads, vegetables in the diet.
Have adequate water intake; say 8 – 10 glasses per day.
Avoid deep fried foods, bakery products, and refined sugars.
Avoid substance abuse, if any.
Meditate.
Think positive.
God bless you.

I hope this answer was helpful to you!
Thank you and best regards!
