Could Cough And Cold In Pregnancy Effect The Fetus?

Hi Doc. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and having a very bad cold and cough. I'm worried that it will harm my baby especially now that she's almost fully developed. I'm not taking any medicines as I was advised not to take any. Please could you let me know if this will affect my unborn child.

Thank you

Hi,

It is best that you take medications for cough and cold rather than Suffer from it.As cold ,cough and fever and further infection is more harmful to the baby than the medications.
Since you are already at 27 weeks its very unlikely that the medications or antibiotics will harm the baby in anyway .But being sick can lead to preterm labour or womb infection which will definitely affect the baby .

Get medications and don't worry about their effect on the baby.
Healthy mothers have Healthy children.
Regards.
