Could Cortisone Injections Be Damaging To The Thyroid?

Could cortisone injections be damaging to the thyroid? I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid over 2yrs now...was on synthroid for two yrs and felt horrible....now I was switched to generic synthroid 150mcg. I still feel tired and sick!, just had blood work for my Adrenals! Waiting on results! Plus vitamin D deficient ? Help....so tired of feeling sick and exhausted

Hello and thanks for writing.

I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best possible way. Your fatigue may be related to combination of thyroid and vitamin d deficiency. I believe your are under treatment for both. Wait for your thyroid and vitamin d levels to normalise and you will definitely feel better.

As far as cortisone is concerned there is no direct interaction between the two. However they both are synergistic hormones. So some dose modification may be required if you start cortisone.
