Could Bleeding Through Nipples Be Due To Blood Thinners?

My mother is 82 years old and on a number of medications, including warfarin. She just started bleeding from one of her nipples ... very, very little ... just a dot here and there. Could this be a possible side effect of the blood thinner. She is also insulin dependent.

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

Bleeding anywhere in the body could be due to Blood thinner . But considering her age bleeding from Nipples needs to be evaluated as one of the cause for bleeding from Nipples is Breast Cancer.

So kindly consult your doctor and ask for evaluation . She will require a test called Mammography to check for the presence of any tumors in her breast.

Till you meet a doctor you can stop Warfarin.

Hope you find information useful.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .
