Could Thyronorm Cause Knees Pain, Sleepiness And Tiredness?

hi doctor, i am 28 yrs old (female) have been detected with hypothyroidism (TSH - 27.04) and have been advised to take 100 mcg thyronorm. i have been taking the medicine for last 30 days. But i have been suffering from few things - feeling sleepy and getting tired very often, and from a couple of days, there has been pain in my knees. First happened in left knee and now the right knee also has pain. please advise if this is any side effect of the medicine? What can be done to prevent this?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, the symptoms you reported could be due to your insufficient dose of Levothyroxine. I would suggest to check the thyroid hormones (TSH, FT4 and FT3) and adjust the dose of Levothyroxine if needed. Otherwise, if the actual dose results the right one (the thyroid hormones are within the normal ranges), then you should consult an orthopedics for the knee problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Mirjeta
