Could Losanorm Cause Swelling?Suggest Remedy For Swelling In Legs And Fingers
My mother(76 Years) suddenly fallen on the floor and got hip joint Fractures. Her BP were 110/70, weight is 39 Kgs. Present BP is 160/95. Doctor Suggested to lie down straight on the Bed and have these Medicins -- Losanorm H 50 and subsequently Losanorm 50 with other Medicins like XtraCal & Fiano etc.. She is also a Heart Patient taken Corderon 100 for last few months. Last 7/8 days her Legs and Fingers are Sweling heavely. Her Sodium and Potasium level is 126 & 3.1 . My Question is whether this sweling is the reason for takeing Losanorm ? What is the remady ?

Low serum sodium and swelling usually means water retention but I don't have enough information to confirm that. Losartan (Losanorm) may cause swelling in some patients - although this is not its commonest side effect. Losartan does not help with swelling. The cause of water retention has to be addressed; for example, if she has heart failure then treatment with a diuretic may help - her doctor should decide that, taking the low potassium into account as well.
In other cases, water restriction helps with the low sodium and the excess water but it requires medical supervision. Also, please keep in mind that NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that are commonly used for pain) may raise the blood pressure and may cause swelling as well. If the swelling is unilateral (I suppose it's not because you used plural when you referred to legs and fingers) then her situation may be more urgent. In conclusion, I think you should discuss treatment options with her doctor, as I don't have enough information to suggest options myself.
