Two months ago I ate a very hot potatoe and swallowed it and felt some discomfort a few days later I began to belch or burp constantly a few days later again I fely some pressure in my chest area and it has remained like that . when I eat or take vitamins it seems to take a while to go down to my stomach. The burping has improved and I wondered if I have burnt my oseophogus is this is causing the reflux or burping. I do not have heartburn or acid

Hello,
Thank you for contacting HCM with your quiery.
Yes , it is possible that you might have caused
some damage to the lining of the esophagus from
burns. I am not sure if you followed this by drinking
cold water right away to minimize damage. But , the
healing process will be quick unlike swallowing caustic
products .Burping and belching might be from some
gas build up. You might have temporary weak lower
esophageal sphicter muscle which will improve.
You can just use some liquid antacids for three four days.
I suggest bland diet for a few days.
Wish you well.
