Cholesterol Test Showed High Triglycerides And HDL Level Despite Proper Exercise Routines. What Medication Is The Best?

Hello, I recently had a annual physical which included a cholesterol test. I came back with high triglycerides and a total level of 258. hdl 60 and ldl 134. In the 10 days or so before i took this test I had been on a eating binge and I would say i was drinking about every two to three days sometimes heavily. Previous to this period I had been exercising 2 hours a day and eating quite healthy. i had lost about 27 pounds total so I was giving myself a break you could say. I'm wondering if the binge i was on could be the reason why I was so high and if I should get back on the health kick for a couple of weeks and be retested before going on medication that my doc wants to give me. thanks

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

HDL is good cholesterol – higher, the better.
LDL (& non-HDL) is bad cholesterol – lower, the better. In the absence of any other risk factor 100 is ideal for LDL-C. In the presence of ischemia, 70 should be the aim.

Keep your weight to normal / even a little less
Quit smoking, if you are a smoker
Do regular EXERCISE – say walking or jogging - 30 minutes a day / at least 5 days in a week. Isometric exercise (like bull worker) is bad.
Healthy FOOD is a must. Avoid saturated fats – coconut oil, palm oil, butter, ghee, full cream../ French fries have palm oil / Pizza has cheese / Indian sweets are made in ghee.../ Change to Poly-un-saturated oil – like sun flower oil. / Include Mono-un-saturated oil – Olive oil.
Repeat the test in 6 weeks.
Cholesterol can still be high, in spite of diet and exercise – you need drugs; Because it is also manufactured in the liver – and that is determined by heredity. Statin is the first choice.
Some start it straight away – even with normal levels, even without problems (Primary Prophylaxis)

Good luck
Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
