Child's Gum Came Off And Hanging, No Pain, Bleeding. Why Did It Happen?

For my 19m son, today am noticing the gum came off but still hanging, almost looks like polyp . No bleeding , no pain. I am worried. I have noticed last couple days, the gums were pretty swollen, was thinking maybe the teeth will come out soon, thats why, now it looks like a polyp hanging loose in the gum. Why is it like this

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
I hope there is no reason to worry. It might be a case of gingivitis or a cyst in the gums.if it was associated with recent tooth eruption then it might be normal.I hope there is no history of trauma to the gums.Apply some local antibiotics to that area.Maintain a good oral hygiene with medicated mouthwash. If the swelling persists then consult a pediatric dentist if possible.Hope this answers your query.have a nice day.
