My 14 year old son woke up this morning with a stiff neck on one side saying he felt like he "slept crooked". My only concern is that there is a lump in the area that he says hurts. It is not very tall but about 3 inches long. He is healthy and has no other symptoms. No fever, sore throat or anything else. Only a slight runny nose he has had for about a week. Does this warrant a trip to the doctor today or can it wait and be watched? Can a normal stiff neck cause a lump?
