Child With Dry Cough. Prescribed With Teddykoff Cough Syrup And Albutamol. No Mprovement
My daughter is 4 1/2 years old. She is suffering from dry cough since 1 month...Initially she was prescribed Teddy koff cough syrup and Albutamol for 5 days. She was fine, but after few days again cough and cold started. Then gave her S Mucolite for 3 days still no improvement. She used to continuously cough all night. Then we visited another doctor who prescribed Mits Linctus Dx cough syrup, Theo-Asthalin and Azee syp for 5 days... But still i dont see any improvement. Even we have given her Duolin respules nebulizer twice for 3 days. Kindly suggest some solution...
Would like to know whether your child had similar cough earlier?
Whether she required nebulisation on and off in the past few years?
Did she have fever with cough?
What I would suggest is to get her examined thoroughly and run few investigation like a blood ,chest x ray and Mantoux test.If the results come normal then your child could be suffering from allergic bronchitis or asthma for which she would require bronchodilator and steroids .So kindly get in touch with a good pediatrician for thorough examination and investigation.
If infection, the organism might not be sensitive and a change of antibiotic may be needed
If asthma (seems so from your description) - switching over to nebulisers may deliver proper doses and help / Steroids - nebulised or otherwise - may help...
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
