Child Prescribed With Omnacortil For Neprotic Syndrome. What Are The Side Effects?
sir, my son is suffering from nephrotic syndrome detected since one month. after all the clinical examination the doctor prescribed omnacortil 10 mg two times a day. my daughter is 2 and years old. please suggest me the side effects of such treatment and what precautions i should have to take in continuing the treatment.

The side effects of steroids are steroid face, weight gain.
Omnacortil should be taken with food to prevent gastric irritation.
Low salt diet is preferrable.
If the child gets fever or any infection consult your doctor promptly.
You can monitor her weight daily at home.

Prednislone is mainstay in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome.
Some of the side effects are.
weight gain.
acne.
hair growth,
mood changes.
increased chances of infection.
But these side effects are with larger doses taken for longer duration of time.
Once prednislone is stopped these side effects go away.
