Child Having Pain In Front Of Right Ear. Swollen And Took Tylenol. Should I Seek Medical Attention?

Hello, my nephew is 6 years old and has complained today of pain right in front of his right ear. It didn't seem too bad earlier, but he woke up tonight crying that it was hurting him badly and it was visibly swollen in that area (no fever). I gave him Tylenol and an ice pack and he eventually went back to sleep. He has an appt with ENT, but it's not until December. Family physician was concerned at our last visit because that ear was blocked and my nephew was too anxious for him to clear it out. He was also having some issues with his left ear at that time. Should I take him back to the family dr or see if i can move up our ENT appt? Is this likely from an ear infection, or something else?
