Child Has Swollen And Red Scrotum, Painful. Should I Be Concerned?

My son is 3 yrs old and was riding his bike all dsy yesterday. This is the first year he has wore underwear and not diapers while riding. Last night he was complaining about his butt hurting, but when i pulled his pants down I realized that his scrotum was twice its size, slightly red and tender to the touch. It wasn't too much better this morning, but its getting better slowly and is less painful. Is it just from riding his bike or should I be more concerned?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

It would be better to get him checked and a few tests done.

That would exclude other possible causes such as infections
which could be viral or bacterial in general.

Possible tests include; urinalysis, complete blood count etc.

At moment, he should be restricted from riding the bike for now at least for the tumefaction to go down.

After examination by a doctor, if there is no other problem, he would be put on anti-inflammatory pain killers.

Hope this helps you
Best regards
