Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Were any investigations done? What does the stool report say? On what basis was lactose intolerance diagnosed?

Is there any blood or mucus in the stool? Because only in such a scenario we call it as dysentery and start on antibiotic treatment.

Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
If there is blood or mucus in the stool antibiotics prescribed by your doctor may be required.

ORS or any other fluid containing salt and sugar prevents dehydration.

Probiotics and zinc will help.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
