Hello good evening doctor, i have a ten year old boy that was circumcised last saturday. I noticed something like salty kind of smell coming out whenever i clean his thingy and one side of it looks swollen. I decided to give him Amoxicillin capsule 250mga few hours ago and will give it to him every 12hrs. Is this alright?

Hello.First diagnosis to rule out is an infection.
If diagnosis is confirmed,Amoxicillin is not the most recommended drug.
In my opinion others antibiotics(for example cefuroxime or ciprofloxacin) can be taken for treating it. Please consult your local doctor to examine your child
and prescription antibiotic if your doctor deems it necessary.
I wish you good health.
