Cause Of Red Blotchhes And Small Red On The Heels And Hands In A 2 Yr Old With No Relief From 2 Weeks On Antibiotics?
My 2yr old has these red blothes and small red bumps on heels if her feet and a few on her hands. Took her to drs twice one dr said it was hfmd, other said it was cellulitis and have her antibiotic for 7 days. It's been 2+ weeks and it is still in her feet. No other symptoms but she does complain of pain and tiptoes around the house, but it doesn't look like it's getting any better. Dr says to give it 2 more weeks. What does she have?
Another possibility is a virus that causes hand, foot and mouth disease. Viruses are not treated with antibiotics, but skin eruptions may be associated with primary or secondary bacterial infections. Cellulitis is treated with an antibiotic. In addition, the local use of topical antibiotics may help the healing process, and the areas involved should be kept clean.
