Can Walking Problems Be Caused Due To Loosening Of Rods In The Hip?

I have 3 titanium rods placed in my hip after a fracture about 12 years ago. I am recently experiencing continual pain and difficulty in walking. Can these rods become loose and cause this? Up intil a few weeks ago I had only occasional discomfort but it has increased substantially

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. since there is a history of hip repair fracture [hip pinning] and now facing gait problem thus consult with an Orthopedic surgeon to exclude any hidden pathology of your symptoms like hip osteoarthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], osteoporosis [check with DEXA which is a means of checking bone mineral density] as they may be the cause of bone loss causing pain and difficulty walking.

PS. If everything comes out to be normal you might be advised to go for revision hip surgery if X-ray shows loosening of the prosthesis and you may have to take an opinion of a Neurologist since examination of gait [posture of the patient while walking] often gives a clue to a neurological disorder.
