Can Usage Of Meth Cause Skin Infection With Abscess Filled Pimples?

I tried meth for the first time a few months ago and ended up getting 2 bites on my leg infected.. They turned into pus filled bubbles and broke a few days later. Same thing happened to my arm. All after 2 days use of the drug. Just recently, I tried meth again and what looked like pimples were popped and now 1 of them has become a huge painful abscess, grew incredibly large, formed a head and finally ruptured. It has been draining for 4 days now. While the red area around it is almost non existent anymore, it s still draining a lot. I was able to connect the skin problem with the drug use and stopped the drug use. My question now is, are these symptoms of staph or MRSA and is a visit to the er in order?

Hello,

Yes, in my opinion this might be a staphylococcus infection of that area. I strongly suggest you to go to the ER department to get medical help. You can not do it by yourself.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
