why don t people get treated individually for type 2 diabetes? people are going nuts trying to get to a number that we ALL should be under. Some times it is easy, like summer you are more active, numbers go down, in winter they go up. why is it when someone wants to take care of the type 2 diabetes, without medication, they are discouraged. it seems you must take medication, or die. and the A1c # s are constantly changing so it is impossible to reach the lower numbers without taking medication! what was so wrong with the numbers 2 years ago? some people have higher A1C naturally, some not, I tried for years to get my numbers down. when I was diagnosed, I was 9.6, and scared so bad, I almost killed my self, and went down to a 6.4. there is no living with diabetes, take a drug or die. the side effects will kill you sooner than the diabetes. I have family members, taking medication and go and eat sugar. real smart. plus, I am a recovering alcoholic, and I refuse to put my liver or any other organs in danger just to get to a number a group of people came up with, this month. chances are, diabetes isn t going to kill me. Just watch the news. Woman dies in car crash, but her A1C was 6.3 go figure. So why can t we be treated as individuals, instead of a group? It would calm a lot of nerves. Thanks, Leigh
