Can Toe Pain With Soreness And Discoloration Be Due To Gout?
Hello...I have type two diabetes. Several years ago I had a blockage in my leg that caused nerve damage to my left foot. This was unrelated to the diabetes. I now have neuropathy...but for several weeks now...I been having really bad pain in my large toe and the one next to it. The toe is very red/blue and sore to touch. I ve been told this could be gout. I have had these flare ups before...and they go away after a week or so. But this time...its holding on. Could gout be the issue?
Since you have type 2 diabetes, you need to take care of your feet well and inspect them regularly as any change in colour or appearance in any part of your feet must be reported to a foot care specialist. Since you are having neuropathy, your chances of having diabetic foot problems are high. Is there any wound or ulcer visible?? It is certainly not gout but can be due to reduced blood flow to your feet. If it is an ulcer which is not healing, you need to see a foot care specialist in your region for prompt action. If there is an infection bacterial or fungal, it must be treated on time to prevent its progression.
