Can There Be Pregnancy Even When There Was No Insertion Of Penis?

During sexual play, I had genital contact with, but no insertion/penetration of a semi-erect penis for about a minute. I don t think there was even any pre-seminal fluid, but I was in a highly fertile time in my cycle. Should I be worried enough to try Plan-B for pregnancy prevention?

Hello and I hope I can answer your question today.

There is a small amount of semen that leaks from the penis when it is erect and close to orgasm. Sperm dies when it is exposed to air so it really needs a moist environment to swim up into the vagina.

Therefore I believe the activity you described will not put you at risk for pregnancy.

Plan B is not harmful if you want to use it, but it will throw off the timing of your next period.

I hope my advice was helpful and reassures you.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
