Can Sore Throat Cause Ear Infection?

I am 15 and my ear has been hurting. I just had a sore throat. My throat stopped hurting, but now my ear hurts. My ear constantly hurts. It hurts more whenever I tilt my head. I don t believe I hit my ear off of anything either. It hurts whenever I put pressure on it. There is also a brief sharp pain whenever I hiccup. I believe it could be a ear infection due to my sore throat.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to ear infection.

I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest using a cycle of antibiotics such as Augmentin twice a day for a week.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
