Can Soaps Cause Skin Infection?

Hi Doctor! Does excessive use of soap bars and liquid soaps (antiseptic) causes skin infection or skin diseases as such?

Hi.. Using harsh soaps definitely can cause harm to the skin. Using soap excesssively can remove the normal bacteria known as skin commonsals which are essential in preventing much dangerous infections, there by increasing the chances of infections.. Hence excessive usage of soaps and antiseptics are also harmful..
