Can Skelaxin Cause Rapid Heart Beat Along With Intensifying The Pain Instead Of Curing?

My doctor prescribed skelaxin for swelling at base or back of head and tenderness. I can't sleep now.

I have a reverse reaction to codeine based drugs, where it increases my heart rate and intensifies pain instead of making me sleep. Are these drugs anyway related?

Hi,welcome to healthcare magic forum.
Tender swelling with tenderness usually is a soft tissue infection. It is unlikely to respond to skelaxin(a muscle relaxant) alone. It needs antibiotics along with analgesics.Intensifying pain means progression of infection.Your doctor may not have noticed the swelling at once. You pleas have a review appointment with your doctor as early as possible.Skelaxin usually has no effect on heart beat, and does not intensify pain.
I hope you will find this information useful.Thank you.
