Can Regular Pads' Usage For Chronic Spotting Cause Vaginal Itch?

I am on the deprovera birth control shot and have had my period since i first got it. It is very light however, sort of like spotting. I started using thin panty liners because my period was so light. I have used them everyday for probably 3 months or so. Even when sleeping. Recently it started getting itchy down there where the pad touches the skin and is also turning red. It's been like this for a while. Could this be a reaction to wearing a liners every day?
