Can Periods Be Predicted Before Hand?

I have had stomach pain and extremely heavy periods for two years. Sometimes these cause me to take to my bed. The pain is in my stomach, back, thighs and genitals. Normal panadol doesn't really help unless I can predict the periods arrival and take it regularly for a few days before hand.

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Your symptoms are likely to be due to Pre-menstrual Syndrome(PMS).
It is associated with abdominal cramping, nausea, slight weight gain.

I would suggest the following which will definitely help relieving your symptoms

1. Consider taking Oral Contraceptive pills(OCP) in consultation with your Physician, provided you are not planning for having baby in near future. It will help by making the cycles painless because of inhibition of Ovulation. It decreases the menstrual flow and also PMS.
2. avoid Caffeine and carbonated beverages
3. Comination of antispasmodics and analgesic will help relieve stomach ache.
4. If you also have upper gastrointestinal symptoms like heart burn or upper abdominal pain, consider taking proton pump inhibitirs
5. Consume plenty of oral fluids: Ensure 2-3 liter intake of fluid
6. Consume high fibre diet: 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits a day
7. Avoid Spicy and oily food and foods known to induce colic like Biscuits, cookies and other products containing refined flour.

In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life

Take Care
