Can Metformin Cause Increased Fatigue And Lack Of Interest In An Elderly Female?

My mother is 88 years old and takes metformin. she recently had a norovirus. She is now feeling tired with increased interest in life. She is eating and drinking very little since the norovirus. she has had high blood pressure and has been on meds for many years. She also has had renal failure associated with anti-viral medications. Would the increased fatigue and lack of interest in activites be related to taking metformin while eating and drinking little?
