Can Light Period Be A Sign Of Pregnancy?

Hi, I ve been on a the pill (Cyproterone Acetate/Ethinylestradiol OCP) for 14 years and have always had quite heavy periods. This month I missed a pill on day 5 after the 7 sugar pills and also took 1 or 2 later than 12 hours during the last couple of weeks. Now my period has come and it is extremely light - only spotting really. I took a clearblue pregnancy test (on day 6 of the sugar pills) and it was negative. Could I still be pregnant? I m worried that if I am and I start taking the hormone/cyproterone pills again that would cause harm to the baby?

Hi,
Though the likelihood of a failure is remote since you did not miss any pill during the mid-cycle, you should anyway exclude/confirm pregnancy through an estimation of serum beta-hCG and a trans-vaginal sonogram. If negative, you may conclude that the slight disturbances you had with the pill intake during the month could have caused imbalances thus resulting in the slight bleeding instead of the usual heavy periods. Please see a specialist for further appraisal of the situation. Hope this helps.
