Hello, and i hope I can help you today.
Taking emergency
contraception usually alters your menstrual pattern for the next month or so. So there is no reason to suspect
pregnancy as long as you do not completely miss a period for more than a month. The amount of blood you shed with your period can also be affected by the pills you took. Furthermore, if your husband does not ejaculate inside you, your chances of pregnancy are greatly reduced.
However, to ease your
anxiety, if you have no bleeding for more than 4 consecutive weeks, then I would perform a urine pregnancy test.
So if your pregnancy test is negative, then you may just have had an abnormally early light period. Getting your period at the wrong time can happen to any woman and may be caused by
stress, weight changes, travel and even worrying about accidental pregnancy, in addition to taking emergency contraception. If you and your husband do not currently desire pregnancy, it may be worthwhile for you to see a GYN provider to discuss alternate, more reliable methods of contraception.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
