Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Ischemia Be Treated With Medicine? Can I Go For A 2nd Opinion Before Surgery?
I had a EKG that was normal after inquiring about skipped heart beats with my primary care doc. I've had skipped beats off and on for most of my adult like. I wore a holter monitor which detected PVCs. I then was referred for a thallium stress test and an echocardiogram. I am 61 years old. I have no family history of significant heart disease. I got through the treadmill test without any pain or excessive breathlessness (7 minute test). However, The stress test came back abnormal, and I was referred to a cardiologist for a consult. Apparently they detected some ischemic areas. Can ischemia be treated with medicine (I have been taking Lisinopril 10 mg? I am very reluctant to have any surgery. As a beginning treatment, is it appropriate to ask for medicinal intervention first and see how that goes?
Appropriate treatment demands accurate diagnosis Diagnosis needs physician consultation and investigations… in this case an angiogram is a must Decision depends on the nature, location and severity of the obstruction / regional and over all function / Some cases can be treated medically The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.
Take care Wishing all well God bless
