Can Intercourse After Gonorrhea Lead To Transmission Of The Disease?

i was treated for gonorrhea on 11-8-2010 and had sex with my boyfriend five days later. is it possible that he has been infected and will need to get retreated again? I was told by the nurse to wait a week before having sex and did so two days before i was recommended to.

Thanks for your query at HCM!
Yes it is possible that your friend might have contracted the disease.
Transmission occurs by the direct inoculation of infected secretions from one mucous membrane to another by sexual route. The incubation period is usually taken as being between 2 and 5 days but may be up to 10 days
I suggest he can take the emperical treatment for gonorrhoea by taking either Ceftriaxone or Cefixime with Metronidazole or Azithromycin.
He can visit is physician and start treatment. He can get tested by NAAT after 2 weeks.
Take care!
