Can Intake Of Norethisterone Reduce The Length Of Periods?

hi doctor, I m going to my family trip on 31st Oct 2015 for 8 days trip. therefore, I plan to take Norethisterone to control my period but my period had come early hence any medication can make my period finish in 5 days caused my usual period time is about 10 days.

As your period has come now, intake of Norethisterone is not recommended. You can take oral contraceptive pill once daily, it will reduce the length of periods.
Similarly, the intrauterine device Mirena and the injectable hormonal contraceptive Depo-Provera can be used to suppress menstruation.
If you doesn't want contraception, Lysteda is an FDA-approved, non-hormonal drug that treats heavy menstrual bleeding. It works by stabilizing a protein that helps blood to clot. The medication is typically taken three times a day for up to five days during monthly menstruation.
