Can Infection In Ear Cause Swollen Thyroid?

Hi, Im 39 female and I was at the doctors a few weeks ago at my scalp was ithcy, sore and very flaky and my hair was falling out more than usually when brushing anyway the nurse gave me a shampoo and cream and all started working well. The following week my right ear had shooting pains and I had a few days of being light headed, the following morning my neck was swollen, off I went again to the doctor and I had blood tests as she said it seems its my right thyroid she also gave me an ear spray as she said it was a little red inside. Blood tests came back a few days later and they were all normal. Following week back to the doctors as my thyroid was still swollen, different doctor has said my ear has fluid in the inner part like glue ear, and its definitely my thyroid swollen but doesn t think there linked. Hes referred me to the ENT department as urgent which is a week on Tuesday but has said he doesn t think its anything serious. Can my ear be causing my thyroid to be swollen??? I now have a screeching noise when blowing my nose.Thanks in advance

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have thyroid swelling. But your ear infection has no relation with your thyroid swelling.

You may have some benign thyroid nodule or cystic goitre or some tumor.

You should go for ultrasound thyroid. If needed go for FNAC thyroid. It will give you exact idea. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
