Can Increased Dose Of Symbicort Cause Tics To Appear?

My son is 8 years old has been on symbicort for a few years .He developed a motor and verbal tick about 2 years ago - the drs. though maybe tourettes - but recently over the summer I started only giving one puff a day 2x a day and the ticks went away - the doctors thought that maybe he just outgrew the ticks. At my last visit, my allergist had me bump up the symbicort to 2 puffs 2x a day to get ready for cold and flu season and over the last week or so, the ticks have returned and are much worse. Do you think there is a connection with the ticks and the symbicort?

Hello,

Yes, sometimes, it may aggravate the tics due to Formoterol in it. Tremors also may aggravate due to this drug. Please consult with your treating physician he will examine and treat you with alternative medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
