Can Increased Calcium Intake Cure Osteopenia?

Hello, my name is Lynn. I m a 5-yr. breast cancer survivor (as of last month), and recently had my 2nd or 3rd bone scan. The results showed osteopenia, despite taking supplemental calcium and Vit. D. My oncologist said that we d watch it, and to double-up on my calcium. Input? Recommendations?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an age-related change. As the bone scan shows no bony metastasis, it has got no relation with your old cancer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
