Can I Take Kadian For Cerebral Palsy And Spina Bifida?

Hello Doctor.I am a 44 yr old male with cerebral palsy ,spina bifida andarthritis.I m 6 ft and 180 lbs.my doctor has me on kadian(100 mg/once a day) and 20mg(bid) is it safe for him to also now give me arthrotec 75?Thank you so much for your time,Donny

Hi,

Oral morphine (Kadian), is absolutely safe to take with Arthrotec. Arthrotec has a combination of 2 medications, one is an NSAID and the other is to prevent stomach irritation. These 2 medications are often used together to pain relief as they both work in different ways to reduce pain. Morphine blocks pain receptors themselves and Arthrotec reduces the inflammation leading to the pain. There is NO increased risk of sedation or respiratory depression by combining these two, so rest easy that this is safe combination!
