Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I have been taking Mimvey 1/0.5mg for approx 1 year and it has worked very well for relief of nighttime hot flashes. At this time, I am considering asking my doctor to decrease the dose to 0.5/0.1mg due to a concern for onging HRT and potential SEs. Please advise.
Mimvey (estradiol and norethindrone) has both estrogen and progesterone component. It is not clear from the description what concerns or potential side effects you are worried about. Yes, you can ask for decrease in dose. The other option is to consider only estradiol preparations or esterified estrogens. Estrogen alone can help in vasomotor symptoms. Any negative effects of progesterone will be negated if oestrogen is used alone. You can discuss the above information with your doctor. Hope this helps. Thanks for contacting healthcaremagic.
