Can Hsv Infection Spread Through A Broken Lip?

I have had one cold sore spot on my upper lip since very young. Usually breaking out once a year, due to sun mostly. I have a new relationship, and my partner has had hsv 2 private area, and has been on suppressant therapy with acyclovir for a 2 years and no outbreaks. His case was very mild. Can I get hsv 2 on my mouth from this? If my lip breaks out am I dealing with my original cold sore source, or is it possibly new type (hsv 2)...

Welcome to HCM.
There are always possibilities to get hsv infection from already infected person.
It can spread to you from genitals to your body after unprotected sex, touching that area and oral sex.
It can also spread even without breakout.
Try to avoid sex and even also touching of that area, sharing of same towel and other things.
Consult your family physician for further guidance.
