ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Whether a hole in the ear can heal without surgery depends on its duration, size and position in the ear drum. Usually, a very small, clean hole heals by itself. Nevertheless, majority do not heal and require intervention. Meanwhile, avoid water entering the ear as this could cause infection. Visit an ENT who will be able to evaluate the eardrum and suggest appropirate treatment.
