Can Hip Abduction Braces Be Used To Protect Hip Abductor Muscles?

I am 61 year old female and have had a leg length discrepancy for most of my life. I currently have arthritis in my right knee. I was seen by an orthopedic physician approximately a year ago and at that time X-Rays were viewed of my left hip and was diagnosed that I did not have a left hip. At this time I m not interested in surgery but would like to know the alternatives available to me. I also was thinking of looking into a hip abduction orthotic brace.

Hello,

You can use the brace safely. If the symptoms persist consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
