Can High Prolactin Be The Cause Of Facial Flushing?

Hi Doctor. I have a flushed face - that sometimes particularly umbearable on my right side. I've recently been having hormone tests - My prolactin was high. The endo is checking for any serious tumors that can cause facial flushing. Do you buy into the chinese medicine theory that it could be down to congested liver?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Flushing of face can be due to congestion and congestion can occur due to various causes.
High levels of certain hormones- adrenaline and nor-adrenaline can cause blushing of face.
An endocrine disorder can lead to congestion of liver also but endocrinal assessment is necessary.
Thus, consult an endocrinologist.
High levels of prolactin will not cause flushing of face.
However, high prolactin levels can be associated with an endocrinal disorder which is causing symptoms of flushing of face.

Thanks and take
