Can Ginger Pills Be Taken For Nausea During Pregnancy?

My wife took two pregnancy tests and the results were positive. She hasn’t been able to see a dr yet and is having really bad nausea. Is it ok to take ginger pills to relieve the nausea or what do you advise her to tak that is safe?
